Social Media Minor Task Research- Barbie

The brand partnered with Zara, Burger King, and Xbox. Influencers on TikTok, and Instagram, went viral on Twitter, trying to reach the audience's attention, and intentioanlly becoming a fever everywhere.

Barbie's social media campaign was everywhere, from getting influencers to post about the film on their social media, they also partnered with Zara, Burger King, and Xbox; meaning barbie was everywhere. They also used nostalgia combined with social media (influencers, releasing trailers/TikTok, etc.) Influencers genuinely passionate about the Barbie movie and its themes can channel that enthusiasm to their followers, creating a ripple effect far beyond the initial collaboration. By partnering with influencers who align with their values, Barbie’s team can cultivate authentic relationships that extend beyond a single campaign or initiative. These relationships can lead to ongoing collaborations, increased brand loyalty, and a deeper understanding of what their audience wants.

During the marketing of Barbie on social media they created nostalgia and emotional bonds being the audience and the product. They created an expectation of bringing Barbie into the real world where she would have to deal with sexism and misogyny, creating this nostalgic and realistic feeling.

They focused their social media campaign towards women and made it anti-men in a way. They didn’t advertise the movie to the male population and focused only on engaging with the female audience. Regardless of their targeted audience being everyone, the way they marketed was interpreted a different way.

The Barbie Movie Campaign was incredibly well thought out since they chose a broad number of ways to advertise the production. Promoting nostalgia in social media, using influencers' collaboration their BRANDING was what made it so memorable because anywhere you turned you would see Barbie content, not only on social media platforms but also in our day-to-day lives. I also want to create meme posters, relating it to a new production coming out, at the same time as mine, and publish them on the social media made for the movie
